About this website

Let me begin by welcoming you and thanking you for your support! You have come across the Cemetery Walks UK website soon after its launch (July 2025), so there are sure to be a number of tweaks along the way.
I am an experienced Find a Grave volunteer and a qualified local and family historian (PG Dip). I started this website with the notion of creating a national database of cemetery lodges, but that project is on the back burner for now, because I am spending lots of time doing research for Find a Grave and my YouTube channel.
Now, I intend the website to be an interesting resource for people who, like me, enjoy the history, peace, and wildlife of cemeteries, and those share my rather niche passion for cemetery lodges and houses overlooking graveyards - it is my dream to live in one of these one day.

If you haven't already subscribed to my YouTube channel, here's what you'll find there:
- Cemetery Walks - a gentle exploration of a graveyard, leaning more into the history of the burial ground itself, rather than particular graves. At first, I am mainly visiting my local burial grounds, but I will make videos further afield when I have to opportunity to do so. I love the regional variations in cemeteries, don't you?
- Graveside Stories - the stories behind the headstones, filmed at the grave (weather permitting). It might be a tragedy, a mystery, a soldier's tale, an unsung hero, or simply history seen through the lens of an ordinary life.
- Dig Deeper - something useful or informative, including research tips, resources, facts, funerary practice, terminology, trivia, and advice.
You can comment directly on my videos when you're on YouTube - I adore getting likes and comments - hearing from my viewers really motivates and inspires me to keep going. If you'd like me to visit a particular cemetery in the Midlands, please let me know!
Once again, thank you for visiting my website. I hope I'll see you again!
