My vision for this website

Let me begin by welcoming you and thanking you for your support! You have come across the Cemetery Walks UK website soon after its launch (July 2025), so there are sure to be a number of tweaks and improvements along the way. I hope you will bear with me while this happens.
Eventually I hope that the website will become a huge resource for people who enjoy the history, peace, and wildlife of cemeteries, and who perhaps share my rather niche passion for cemetery lodges - it is my dream to live in a cemetery lodge one day.
Cemetery Lodges in the UK
In the long term, I'm mainly researching cemeteries which have a cemetery lodge (or indeed several lodges). I have a huge excel file to work through! There is no national database of cemetery lodges, and there should be one! As a result, most of the cemeteries I add to this website to be council and parish burial grounds - churchyards are far less likely to have a lodge.
I hope to expand each of my posts with further research, a video, a historic map, and hopefully an old photo too. It is surprising how many cemetery lodges appear on old postcards! If you have a lodge photo to contribute to my collection, I would love to hear from you!
YouTube
There is a link to my YouTube channel in the menu. If you haven't already subscribed, I'd love it if you would do so. YouTube is an important aspect of my plans for the future. There is no dedicated resource showing videos of cemeteries across the UK. Over time, I would love to fill that gap!
I am still in the early stages of developing my channel. Please let me know whether you like the content of my videos so far, and what you'd like to see more (or less!) You can comment directly on my videos when you're on YouTube - I adore getting likes and comments - hearing from my viewers really motivates and inspires me to keep going!
At first, I am mainly visiting my local burial grounds, but I will make videos further afield when I have to opportunity to do so. I love the regional variations in cemeteries, don't you? In the meantime, if you would like me to video a particular cemetery in the Midlands, please let me know!
Tutorials are in the pipeline
I am an experienced Find a Grave volunteer and a qualified local and family historian (PG Dip). I love to share what I know about finding and recording burials and graves in cemeteries and I have plenty of experience to draw on. In the long term, I hope to add tutorials to my YouTube channel, but bear with me, they may take a while to appear.
